Our Program

Hey skiers! You asked, we listened. KNSC is pleased to announce Homer Nordic, a ski fitness program designed for adult skiers of all ages and abilities.

This is a five-month workout program for skiers training for races and for skiers who want to stay in good shape and challenge themselves to reach new levels in their workouts and skiing ability. Homer Nordic offers group workouts five days a week, and a weekly strength workout on your own. Join for all workouts or weekends or just a weekday to improve your ski technique, strength, and fitness.


$150 for the season, ( plus your KNSC membership). October 19th through March 6th (M, Tu, W, Th from 12-2pm and Sat from 11-1pm).   Coached by volunteer elite nordic skiers. Even if you only can go once a week this is an amazing deal – you’ll get fit and learn how to ski more efficiently and it is FUN! Again- everyone begins at their own level, from beginner to elite. To Join

To join Homer Nordic, first become “a member of KNSC” and then you will be able to register for the Homer Nordic program . Go to this page to join both:  KNSC’s online registration page. NOTE: You must be a member of both KNSC and Homer Nordic to view the weekly workout schedules. You have until November 19 to come to practices “to check it out” then the workouts will require a membership  password. We hope to ski ya out there!

Some History

Homer Nordic is a program of the Kachemak Nordic Ski Club founded in 2007. Over the years the program has grown and adapted to meet the changing needs in the ski community together with the interests of program members. Currently Homer Nordic is operated by an enthusiastic team of coaches, each who brings different ski and fitness experience to our program. These volunteer coaches work together to design a comprehensive ski training program and schedule. 

Historically Homer Nordic was an exclusively ‘for women, by women’ program. Beginning in 2017, the program was expanded to offer a 5-week mixed-gender session.  In 2019-20, Kachemak Women’s Nordic expanded further to men and women for the entire season. The success of the first fully co-ed season brings us to current ski season with Homer Nordic program enrollment open to all interested skiers. We are excited to grow participation to provide masters-level ski fitness training to a broader sector of the community. We hope you share this enthusiasm!


Our primary commitment is to building a community of athletes of all levels. No matter your ski ability, fitness, or age, the workouts are designed for every individual to improve their ski technique and strength. As part of the Homer Nordic philosophy, we aim to share the experience of learning, challenging ourselves, and supporting each other’s athletic goals. Homer Nordic strives to be a fun, supportive environment for adults of all abilities to inspire each other and to build camaraderie through a shared joy of skiing and fitness.

Some skiers use this program to prepare for serious ski racing and others will never race and instead simply enjoy the company, mid-day sunshine and increased fitness! Some people are able to come to practice every time it meets, and some people come to practice twice a month.
